An Adobe Photoshop Icon

If you’ve read How to sell your crafts online then you know I recommend using free graphics programs if you don’t wish to pay out for Photoshop.

But for a limited time you can download the new Photoshop Beta and give it a spin in case your curious to its capabilities.

I’ve been using Photoshop for around 10 years now and its easily the best graphics program, however its also an expensive and complex one.

In terms of running an Etsy shop, Photoshop is a seriously handy tool. With a little learning you can vastly improve your product images and really make them pop! You can also use Photoshop to create a sharp and snappy banner for your Etsy shop.

Photoshop CS6 appears to have some exciting new features and I’d recommend trying it out.
From Adobe:

As mentioned in my book, you don’t have to use Photoshop to improve your photography or create banners for your Etsy shop. And there’s a whole chapter in How to sell your crafts online which gives you step-by-step instructions on how you can use free online tools to improve your Etsy shop.

Just another little helpful thing (Which is pretty easy and can make a banner look more professional) is that you can go to and type into the search box “Photoshop Brush” And a whole bunch of free brushes will show up which you can download. There will be some for sale but others are free for commercial use.

You can find swirls, sparkle trails, butterflies, textured brushes, all sorts of different stuff that can be made into making something look more professional, all you have to do is play around.

I will admit Photoshop is a complex program but it is worth it in the end! I was lucky enough to learn the basics in my yearbook class a few years ago but still wasn’t everything I needed to know….Youtube has a bunch of free tutorials if you’re interested and you can find so much online by just typing into google “Photoshop Tutorial” Don’t expect to learn it all in a day, it all comes when you play with it on a daily basis, don’t be afraid of it 🙂

      Thanks Shannon.
I agree with you, Photoshop should be taken one step at a time for beginners. But it’s amazing how quickly those steps add up over time.
Thanks for sharing DeviantArt and YouTube, 2 more fantastic references.
Wishing you all the best with Lasting Allure Jewellery Designs, your jewelry and image photography is wonderful 🙂
